One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure

Thursday June 19, 2008
Do you have used stereo components or speakers that you no longer want? Here's an idea - post them for sale on ebay or Craigslist. You might be surprised what your used stereos or speakers are worth to someone else. Go to ebay and click on the 'sell' link in the upper right corner of the site, follow the link to the 'selling tips' section to set up an account. Take a few photos, write a description of what you're selling and list it for sale on the ebay site. Ebay suggests that your opening bid be low to encourage more people to bid on the item and I've found this to be good advice.

Another way is to list the items on Craigslist.org, an online classified listing of items for sale. The difference is that ebay is an auction site where people bid and compete for items, and Craigslist is a listing of items for sale, like a classified ad in a newspaper. In addition, ebay is worldwide and Craigslist is local. It's easier to sell large or heavy items on Craigslist because they can be picked up locally rather than shipped. You will also need to set up an account to sell items on Craigslist. Either way, ebay and Craigslist are two great ways to find a home for unwanted stereo components or speakers.

These sites are also a great way to find a stereo component or speaker you want to buy. Check out my article on ebay bidding strategies to get the best deals.
