Best Recording Labels: AIX Records and Chesky Records

From Gary Altunian, About.com GuideAugust 17, 2008

As a product reviewer and audio enthusiast, I'm always looking for good recordings on disc. Two of my favorite recording labels are AIX Records and Chesky Records. AIX Records is the work of Mark Waldrep, who not only offers superb high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz recordings on DVD-Audio and DVD-Video, he also hosts a new music download service called iTrax, where his unique audio and video recordings can be downloaded to a computer or music server and stored on a hard disk. He calls it 'iTunes for adults'. Read my profile of the iTrax system. Chesky Records is another favorite of mine. With talented vocalists such as Sara K., Valerie Joyce, Rebecca Pidgeon, numerous jazz artists and one of the finest recording systems, Chesky offers outstanding recordings that are appreciated by musicians and audiophiles alike. Chesky has also just introduced HD Tracks, a CD-quality music download service with DRM-free music that is compatible with PCs and Macs. Learn more about HD Tracks. There are many fine record labels and these two are worthy of special mention. You get the best performance from your stereo system when you start with the best recordings.

If you copy a 24 bit recording will it be as good as or near the original?

Yes, as long as you use a lossless codec able to encode at 24bit. The recording should be bit for bit identical.
