Koetsu USA has announced the availability of two stereo power amplifiers, the S-1 Dual Mono and the S-1 Signature both designed for the enthusiast market and built by Goldenote of Italy. Both models include a Mirror-Amp™ circuit that allows the preamplifier section to operate in Class A mode and they both feature power supplies backed by two independent transformers. The S-1 Dual Mono is 40-watts x 2 and the S-1 Signature is 60-watts x 2. Although this may not seem like a lot of power, it is more than adequate when used with efficient loudspeakers and the Mirror-Amp Class A mode likely produces significant sonic benefits including superior linearity. The S-1 Dual Mono has a suggested retail price of $1,436 and the S-1 Signature sells for $1,866.
Koetsu USA is the US distribution division of Koetsu Japan, which markets phono cartridges for the audiophile market. Both amplifiers are hand-built in Florence, Italy by Goldenote.
