Your wireless home computer network can also be used as part of a whole house music system when used with systems such as the Sonos Multiroom System and Yamaha's MusicCast2. The Sonos system is an easy way to stream iTunes music and other audio content to any room using its 'wireless mesh' technology to ensure good coverage in larger homes and prevent sound delay between rooms. It has an elegant style, excellent sound quality and very intuitive remote control. Read my full review of the Sonos system. Or, check out Yamaha's MusicCast2 system, which streams music and audio content wirelessly to any room using the Wi-Fi router you probably already have. It's also designed to interface with Yamaha receivers and other audio components. Both systems are easy to setup and use, however, some knowledge of computer network settings may be required.
In addition to streaming your iTunes library to any room, these systems make it easy to access new sources of audio entertainment including thousands of Internet Radio stations, the Pandora music service, XM/Sirius Satellite Radio and lots more. (Note: Subscriptions are required for some content.)
