Definition: An acoustic suspension speaker is a sealed box speaker enclosure that uses the trapped air inside the speaker to provide a cushion and more linear movement of the woofer. A speaker used in an acoustic suspension enclosure usually has a more compliant surround allowing it to move a greater distance in and out and to produce more bass. Acoustic suspension speakers usually require more amplifier power than bass reflex speakers.
