Definition: WiFi is a radio technology that allows users to wirelessly connect computers, mobile phones and media players to each other, to the Internet or to a wireless network. WiFi has become the predominant wireless system for home and office and operates in the 2.4 GHz - 5 GHz frequency range. It is also known by its technical name 802.11. The most current version, 802.11n provides user selectable frequency and has a maximum data rate of 450 mbps.
