To the serious stereo and music enthusiast, sound quality and comfort are likely the most important things to consider when buying a pair of headphones. Convenience features and cost follow these requirements closely, but the headphones have to fit comfortably and sound good before anything else. I tested the TDK EB900 In-Ear Headphones with my iPod and stereo system to find out how they measure up in sound and comfort.

Features

The EB900 In-Ear Headphones are designed for TDK by Imation Enterprises and aimed at the stereo enthusiast, the listener interested in better sound than entry-level models provide. They're also designed for comfort and sound isolation.

The secret to the EB900 Headphones appears to be the 8.5mm micro-drivers and the Comply™ Memory Foam Tips. The micro-drivers provide deep, solid bass combined with excellent mid and top-end clarity. Vocals sounded very clear and open and the overall sound was very full. The TDK headphones come with Comply Memory Foam Tips that expand to fit the shape of almost any ear canal. Additionally, soft silicone tips in four sizes are provided to place over the earpieces. Because the Memory Foam Tips expand in the ear canal, they offer superior noise reduction and comfort. Sounds from the surrounding environment are effectively reduced almost as if the headphones had a noise cancellation feature.

Its braided cord resists tangling and is adjustable via a cord slider and the headphones come with a carry case for mobile use. They do not include an audio adapter for use with airline sound systems.

There is nothing particularly elaborate about the design of the EB900 Headphones, nor do they have a lot of fancy features, such as a volume control or noise canceling – they simply offer great performance and comfort. I must point out that the packaging is very high quality, suggesting that its contents are likewise.

Conclusion

I would easily recommend the TDK EB900 In-Ear Headphones for music enthusiasts. Sound quality combined with good sound isolation and long-term comfort makes them a good choice for listening at home or on the go.
