Rebooting Your Stereo System

Define the Problem

Occasionally a receiver or disc player will 'lock up' or 'freeze' and simply refuse to operate. The component is turned on and the front panel lights are on, but it doesn't respond. Maybe the drawer won't open on the disc player or it won't play a disc. Receivers and disc players (and other electronic components) are operated by multiple microprocessors or microchips which occasionally need to be reset, or rebooted. There are two ways to reset an audio component.
